Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL) Endorses Michael Blake for Congress (NY-15)

New York, NY – Today, the Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL) announced its endorsement of Michael Blake to be the next representative of New York’s 15th Congressional District.

ASAAL is a labor-based community organization with 11 chapters in five states and five separate chapters in New York City. The NYC chapters have a combined total of over 10,000 supporters, and the ASAAL Bronx Chapter alone has over 1,000 members.

The ASAAL endorsement comes with boots on the ground, knocking on doors, phone banking, and gathering on street corners. “We will do all we can to help elect Michael Blake to be the next congressman,” ASAAL leadership said in a statement. “We know he has the vision and what it takes to lead a community like the South Bronx. He is the hope—let’s win together!”

“As a son of immigrants whose union father conveyed how labor unions empower families, I am incredibly honored to be endorsed by ASAAL, showing how South Asian labor leaders believe in our run for Congress for the Bronx,” Blake said. “Given the remarkable diversity of New York’s 15th Congressional District, we continue to show how all diverse communities are coming together around our #BelieveInTheBx vision. Together, we will stand up for immigrants, for labor families, and for the Bronx on our way to victory on June 23rd.”

ASAAL is the latest organization to endorse Blake’s congressional candidacy, building on a diverse coalition of supporters, unions, and interest groups.

Together, we #BelieveInTheBx.

The Alliance of South Asian American Labor mainly consists of members from local unions affiliated with national and international unions, those individual workers who believe in the labor movement, and all those who are self-employed in their respective professions including those who run their own small business.
