The Congressional Black Caucus PAC (CBCPAC) Endorses Michael Blake for Congress (NY-15)

New York, NY – The Congressional Black Caucus PAC recently endorsed Obama alum and Assemblymember Michael Blake’s Congressional run. This is one of nearly ten recent endorsements for Mr. Blake, alongside the Collective PAC, Congressman Anthony Brindisi (D-NY), Congresswoman Deb Haaland (D-NM), Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL), Congressman Dan Kildee (D-MI), Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-CA) and Congressman and Presidential candidate Tim Ryan (D-OH).

The CBCPAC’s goal is to increase the number of African Americans in the U.S. Congress, support non-Black candidates that champion their interests, and promote African American participation in the political process. The CBCPAC Board released the following statement on the recent endorsement of Michael Blake for Congress campaign: “We know firsthand that it matters who you send to Washington and are very confident that Michael Blake will be an excellent addition to join us as a member of Congress to be a champion for equity across education and economic development. We have closely watched his effective leadership during his time in the Obama Administration as the White House Director of African American and Minority and Women Business Enterprises outreach and as an Assemblymember where he has championed My Brother’s Keeper, housing reform in NYCHA, Diversity In Medicine, criminal justice reform and MWBE’s access to capital and contracts. We are proud to endorse Michael Blake for Congress as he is the best person to bring this bold vision from the Bronx to Congress.” Assemblymember Blake said of the endorsement:

I am honored to receive CBCPAC’s endorsement today. Since its founding, the CBCPAC has worked tirelessly to help elect African Americans and our allies to Congress. I share their vision of a more diverse Congress and increased civic engagement amongst African American voters across this country. I am proud to have the CBCPAC standing with me as I strive to represent my home in Congress.

CBCPAC’s endorsement follows Democratic Congressman G.K. Butterfield’s (NC-1) endorsement late last week. “Historically, Michael’s leadership has fostered the expansion of economic opportunity and better access to healthcare,” remarked Congressman Butterfield, “His work with the Obama Administration to develop policies which facilitate the growth of women and minority-owned businesses would be a great asset to the South Bronx and to Congress.”

Assemblyman Blake represents the 79th District of New York. Formerly, he served as an aide in the Obama Administration and currently serves as Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair. In April 2019, Mr. Blake announced his candidacy for New York’s 15th Congressional District for the seat soon to be vacated by House Democrat José E. Serrano. He’s currently running on a bold platform geared towards creating jobs for women and people of color, transforming public housing, significantly improving public education, and reforming criminal justice.
